A Divine Reset

In Genesis 50:20, Joseph said to his brothers “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good ”.  In other words, even though they intended to harm him, God used his story to actually save the lives of many.  As evil as this virus is, God is still in the business of turning things around for our good.

We are living in a unique season where you may find yourself with an emptying schedule and more time at home.  We have a decision to make.  We can either worry, complain and let this time slip by in a hurried manner, wishing for the day we can get back out to that fast-paced life we have become accustomed to.  Or, we can embrace this unique opportunity to slow down, take a deep breath, reconnect, and step into a Divine Reset.

I strongly believe the Lord is redeeming this storyline to invite all of us into a Shabbat Pause, a Sabbath Reset.  Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me.  I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.  Simply join your life with mine.  Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, and easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.  For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”

The reality is that you can be still, but still carry a heavy burden.  You can be resting, but not truly at rest.  We can have all the extra time in the world over the course of these few weeks to rest, but we can find ourselves still feeling unsettled in our spirit and soul.

Jesus is inviting you into a place of rest where His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  Utilize this unique time to truly press into God and find yourself connecting to Him in a deeper way.  When we realize that Jesus wants to be our refreshing oasis, we can stop the striving and hurry and we can lay down in green pastures and let Him restore our soul.  The definition of an oasis is a fertile spot in the desert where water is found.  Your life may look like a wilderness, but Jesus is your oasis.  Stop the wandering and settle down into His rest.  Let him reset, restore, and prepare you for what He wants to do next.

I believe we have an opportunity to literally hit the reset button and reprioritize our lives with Jesus.  Take advantage of this time to create new rhythms, new routines, and new priorities.  Restructure your priorities in a way that is life-giving.  Bear the kind of fruit you know that you need in your life and make it sustainable beyond these few weeks of stay-at-home orders.

Romans 8:28 TPT -“So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.”

I truly believe God is wanting to use this time to connect to us in deeper ways and to bring good into our lives.  So embrace this season, stand in faith, and allow Jesus to do a divine reset in your life.
